Need to access data on distant trips whilst sharing info and w others.   Been toying with the idea of using a mac mini Snow Leopard server for the job.   However, the electrical supply at my place is slightly unstable and suffers from the occasional electrical trip.   Any potential down time is not good.

Hence, been toying also with the idea of using cloud-based storage or backup service provided by eg. jungledisk (www.jungledisk.com).   Still fully conversant with jungledisk to jump in yet but attracted to it.   One "Pro" is minimal upfront hardware cost and no outage time.   The "con" I suspect is speed of access and backup.

Anyone with experience using both (or similar) to advise?

If the only intended usage is data sharing, it would simplify matters for you (and also lower costs considerably) if you go for such cloud-based storage services. I personally use Jungle Disk (for backups) and Sugarsync (for synching an sharing) myself.
